Two Days To Christmas, Fuel Scarcity Worsens Across Nigeria

Despite assurances by various government agencies and officials that the current fuel crisis will abate, the situation across the country portends a bleak Christmas, as the scarcity bites harder and thousands are forced to sleep in filling stations to purchase the product.
When the scarcity began, both the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, and the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Maikanti Baru, said normalcy was going to be restored in a matter of days.
When the crisis worsened, following the threat by the Independent Petroleum Products Marketers of Nigeria, IPMAN, to embark on a nationwide strike, Mr. Kachikwu, following the marching orders by the Executive Council of the Federation, FEC, said the problem was going to end in a few days.
Subsequent assurances from the NNPC was that enough had been done, by increasing the number of trucks of petroleum products to major cities to take care of the scarcity.
But, days after those assurances, the situation in Lagos, Abuja and most other major cities across the country remain far from normal, as fuel remains in short supply, with attendant high prices.
The resultant impact has been rising transportation fares by almost 100 percent, as Nigerians prepare for Christmas.
SOUTH-WEST
In Abule-egba, Lagos, many stations were closed, while the few that were opened sold petrol at between N200 and N250 per litre.
Along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, most filling stations in places like Sango-Ijoko remain shut.
In other parts of Ogun State, the majority of the petrol stations were shut and not dispensing products.
The few stations that sold petrol, including the Nigeria National Petroleum‎ Corporation, NNPC, depot were flooded by motorists with queues extending up to three kilometres.
Only a few cars were seen on the roads in Abeokuta, the state capital, while passengers were seen trekking to offices and back home.
The queues in Lagos filling stations have continued to grow, with most motorists abandoning their vehicles at home and commuting with public transport for lack of fuel.
Lagos residents lamented the impact of the fuel crisis on their lives, especially the rising cost of transportation.
A resident, Chinwe Isaac, who spoke with PREMIUM TIMES, explained how she waited for almost two hours at Obalende bus terminus before getting a bus to Ajah.
“On a normal day, Obalende to Ajah is just N250. But, the fare has now doubled N500. When you question the drivers, the response is that a litre of fuel is sold for N200.”
A corps member, who simply identified herself as Mariam said the scarcity was taking its toll on her.
“Marketers are making a kill from the crisis. Commuters are charged N1,000 from Ojota to Mile 2. I hope the federal government does something urgent about this, especially in this festive period,” Mariam said.
In Ekiti, Ondo and Osun, petrol was sold between N190 and N250 per litre in the filling stations that had the product.
It was gathered that some independent marketers sold as high as N250 in some parts of Ekiti between Thursday and Friday as the situation got worse.
“Some major marketers are selling at the normal rate of N145, but you cannot stand the queue,” a resident of Ado-Ekiti, Kamarudeen, told PREMIUM TIMES.
The situation is worse in Ondo State where “black market” became rampant in Oda and other outskirts of Akure.
Some black marketers sold for as high as N300 per litre in plastic containers.
At the few fuel stations where the product was sold, the queue and crowd became so unbearable that the fuel attendants resorted to issuing numbers to customers.
A PREMIUM TIMES reporter was number 223 on the queue in one of the fuel stations selling a litre for N190.
In Osogbo, the Osun State capital, fuel stations selling at N200 per litre had shorter queues than those selling above the amount.
SOUTH-EAST
In the South-east, fuel prices have risen steadily throughout the week, leading to the increase in both intra and intercity transportation fares.
For instance, the fares from Enugu to Nsukka, which usually cost N500, now cost between N700 to N800.
Fuel price in Enugu initially increased to N190, before going up to an average of between N200 and N230. On Friday, a litre of the product was sold for between N250 to N260 per litre in most filling stations in the state.
The situation is similar in Anambra State, where a resident, Geofrey Ndubuisi, told our correspondent, fuel was being sold at around N210 and N250 in Onitsha, the commercial capital of the state.
Mr. Ndubuisi also said that in Awka, fuel was sold at over N250 per litre, where it was available.
“There is a scarcity of the product and there are long queues in the few filling stations in the state with the product,” he added.
However, the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) compelled some marketers to sell the product at the government regulated price of N145 per litre.
The team, which came from Enugu Office, also sealed 12 filling stations, including an NNPC mega station for hoarding the product.
Some marketers, however, resisted the DPR team.
The situation is not different in Owerri, Imo State capital as well as Aba, the commercial centre of Abia State, where residents said fuel pump price increased to N250 and above per litre.
The impact is the same on transport fares by commercial transport operators.
In Ebonyi State, the retail pump price has risen to an average of N200 and N250 in many filling stations, while the price is as high as N270 and N300 per litre in the black markets.
Many filling stations did not open for business, while long queues built outside most other stations visited by our correspondent on Friday.
Prior to the latest scarcity and hike in fuel prices, tricycle operators were charging N30 per passenger for short distances. But, the fare has now been raised to N50, with long distance trips now attracting between N80 and N120 fare per passenger.
SOUTH-SOUTH
On Friday, many filling stations in Asaba, the Delta State capital still sold petrol at N145 per litre.
In Edo, the state government waded in to ensure marketers sell the product at N145 per litre.
A government team working with the DPR to monitor petrol stations in the state vowed to prosecute marketers found to be involved in the diversion of products.
The Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie, said the monitoring exercise is to ensure that products allocated to the state were dispensed to buyers at the official pump prices, to save the people the hardship being experienced by consumers in other states.
“Marketers are hereby warned to ensure judicious dispensing of allocated products, as the government will not hesitate to apprehend and prosecute any erring marketer,” a government statement said.
However, in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, the fuel supply crisis worsened as almost all filling stations around the state capital and environs sold petrol at about N200 per litre.
Most filling stations belonging to major petroleum marketers were not selling fuel in the city as of Friday.
NORTHERN STATES TOO
In Kaduna, most petrol stations visited were not selling the product. That allowed a free reign to black marketers who sold for between N280 and N350 per litre.
Israel Bulus, a taxi driver who spoke to our reporter, said this is the worst scarcity he has experienced in Kaduna in the last five years.
“You cannot get fuel even at the black market prices. I can tell you with authority that not more than 10 filling stations are selling fuel in the state capital,” he said.
Umar Korau, a resident of Bauchi, told PREMIUM TIMES that the situation is unbearable as most filling stations were closed.
“In Bauchi, there is no fuel at all. The few vehicles you see on the streets are those that got fuel from the few black market sellers at exorbitant prices.
He said a litre is sold for between N300 and N400 at the black market.
In Gusau, Zamfara State, authorities struggled to contain the activities of black market operators who sold petrol to residents at over N200 per litre. The few filling stations that sold the product had very long queues.
Ango Haruna, the Controller in charge of Gusau DPR field office, led the DPR surveillance team of the department to inspect some filling stations in the state.
He said some residents, including commercial motorcycles riders, connived with the black marketers to buy the commodity from filling stations and resell to desperate buyers.
“We observe that some members of the public involved in a panic are buying of the commodity. We noticed that filling stations owners were also conniving with such people, which is against the rule and regulations of the DPR.
“That is why many filling stations in Gusau metropolis today were filled up with the jerry cans which led to long queue in most of the filling stations in the state capital,” he said
Mr. Haruna said even though most of the filling stations in the state had now complied with the order by selling the product at a government-approved price of N145 Naira per litre ‘but the major problem we are facing is hawking and panic buying’.
“Since the government had supplied enough commodity to the marketers we will not relent in our efforts to enforce compliance,” he explained.
APC, PDP REACT
Nigeria’s ruling APC on Friday reacted to the petrol scarcity, saying there was no basis for it.
“There’s no ‘actual scarcity'”, the APC said in a statement on Twitter Friday afternoon.
The party blamed marketers and panic buying amidst Yuletide holidays for the lingering scarcity.
In its reaction, the opposition PDP blamed President Muhammadu Buhari who is also the Minister of Petroleum for the scarcity.
“The unbearable fuel situation in the country is completely unacceptable. Mr. President must become up and doing. He should not allow anybody to push him to claim that the issue of fuel scarcity is not under the purview of the Minister of Petroleum Resources.
“When he took office as President of Nigeria and also as the Minister of Petroleum Resources, he was aware that the buck stops at his table,” the party said in a statement by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbodiyan.
In his reaction, Governor Ayodele Fayose asked President Buhari to resign. He said the scarcity was a deliberate ploy by the Buhari administration to hike fuel prices to as much as N200.
Mr. Fayose said since the scarcity is largely inexplicable, it’s only logical to conclude that federal authorities are behind it.

Don't Accept Wrapped Gifts From Strangers- Police

The Commissioner of Police in Niger, Mr. Dibal Yakadi, on Saturday, advised Nigerians against accepting wrapped gifts from strangers during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
Yakadi, who gave the advice in Minna in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, said such gifts could turn out to be parcel bombs and be dangerous if opened.
He also urged the people to be security conscious, especially while attending public functions during and after festivities.
He disclosed that the command had already taken proactive security measures to deal with threats to peace before, during and after the Yuletide.
‘‘We will continue to utilize the avenues of intelligence-led policing, community, visibility policing as well as the constant intelligence-led raid on criminal hideouts,’’ he said.
He called on residents to provide useful information on suspicious movements of people, saying this would assist security officials to apprehend criminals at the planning stages of their activities.
“We are battle ready to deal with any form of security threats to enable people to celebrate the festivities in a peaceful atmosphere,’’ he said.
He urged officers and men of the command to continue to put in their best as hard working ones would be rewarded, while the indolent personnel would be sanctioned accordingly.

Innoson vs GT Bank: How Industrialist Defrauded Bank And Bullied The EFCC, The Police And Courts With his Political Connections

Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, the Anambra-born industrialist and Chairman of Innoson Nigeria Limited, may have succeeded playing the victim with his arrest, on Tuesday, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission  (EFCC), but there are clear indications that he attempted to defraud Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) through forgery of documents.  Mr. Chukwuma was released on bail on Thursday.  Part of Mr. Chukwuma's success manifested in his arrest being promoted as an ethnically biased move as well as one to hamper a local industrialist. Social media platforms have continued to fizz with this narrative, with many users threatening to close their accounts with GTBank and urging others to do same.
GTBank, Chukwuma's supporters argued, is out to do Mr. Chukwuma and Innoson Motors in because of his ethnicity.
The saga dates back to 2009, when GTBank, with which Innoson Motors is a customer, granted the auto assembly company a series of credit facilities totaling N2.4 billion. The loans represented part-finance and working capital for the importation of new motorcycles, motorcycle spare parts, agricultural machinery spare parts and plastic manufacturing equipment.
Sources told SaharaReporters that under the loan terms agreed by Mr. Chukwuma on behalf of Innoson, proprietary interest in the imported items was exclusively consigned in favor of the GTBank.
This, in strict terms, means that the bank owned the imported goods. As such, the original shipping documents (Bills of Lading), exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, sources further disclosed, were duly held by GTBank and remain in its possession.
On account of the bank's exclusive ownership of the goods, explained those knowledgeable about the transaction, only it can transfer ownership to Innoson or any other party.
A condition in the loan agreement for the release of the goods by the bank to Innoson was the payment of 25% of the value of each Letter of Credit transaction by the auto assembly company.
SaharaReporters learned the Mr. Chukwuma, on behalf of Innoson,  approached GTBank requesting the release of the shipping documents without fulfilling the condition requiring him to pay payment the agreed 25% of the value of each letter of credit. On account Innoson's failure to meet the condition in the agreement, the bank turned down the request.
What followed stunned and riled the bank. It discovered in June 2011 that the shipping documents for goods it declined to release to Innoson because of its failure to meet the agreed conditions had fraudulently been obtained by Innoson.
SaharaReporters learned that  Innoson, on the instruction of its Chairman, had forged GTBank’s endorsement on the Bills of Lading to the shipping line, fraudulently clearing the imported items, which consigned to the bank.
This means that being the property of the bank, the items should never have been cleared from the ports without the bank endorsing the original shipping documents in favor of Innoson or any third party.
What Innoson did, revealed sources, was to forge the signatures of Messrs  Taofeek Olalere, Dan Attah, Bunmi Adeyemi and Amazu Amalachukwu, all GTBank staff,  as well as the bank’s stamp on all the shipping documents to clear the goods at the ports. Insiders said the bank never endorsed or transferred the shipping documents to Innoson, as their original copies remain in the bank’s possession.
Displeased, the bank reported the matter to the Police, to which,  insiders further said, Mr.  Chukwuma told that the documents were released to him by the bank. The Nigerian Police launched an investigation into the bank’s complaint. This took in a forensic examination of the signatures on the documents and established that they were forged by Mr. Chùkwuma and his accomplices to fraudulently clear the goods the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
Police sources said what they knew was that Innoson and Mr. Chukwuma deliberately designed a scheme to steal from the goods from the bank through forgery and misrepresentation. The theft of the goods, which served as the bank’s collateral, left a debt in excess of N1.6billion as at September 26, 2012.
The Innoson Chairman was arrested and interrogated the EFCC. After the interrogation, EFCC sources disclosed, he agreed to make monthly payments into Innoson’s account until his company's indebtedness to the bank is completely liquidated.
However, that agreement was breached, said sources.  In September 2013, GT Bank expressed its disappointment by petitioning the Police, which deemed Mr. Chukwuma culpable. He was subsequently charged to court.
The case (No. FHC/L/565C/2015) is currently pending before Justice J. Faji of the Federal High Coury, Ikoyi, Lagos. The Police slammed charges of fraudulent clearance of goods, forgery, illegal conversion, stealing and conspiracy on Innoson Nigeria Limited, Mr. Chukwuma, Charles Chukwuma, Maximian Chukwura, Mitsui Osk Lines and Annajekwu Sunny. At the last proceedings, the matter was adjourned to November 21, 2017 for arraignment/or hearing of a motion for issuance of Bench Warrant.
Innocent Chukwuma
Innoson would later approach GT Bank for a reconciliation of his account and pleaded for debt forgiveness.
The bank agreed and reconciliation was carried out on the account, which had a debit balance of N1,654,481,895.04 as at December 31, 2011. On account of the conciliatory posture by Mr. Chukwuma and EFCC intervention, GTBank, said authoritative sources, agreed to forego the N559m, which represented default charges that had accrued on the account and debited in line with the loan agreement it and Innoson.
On the basis of this, the bank decided to accept from Innoson the sum of N1.095billion as full and final payment of the company's  indebtedness to the bank with the proviso that it must be paid in full not later than (30) days from the date of the letter written conveying the decision was written to Innoson.
Innoson, however, would stun the bank again when it filed a suit (No: FHC/AWK/CS/2012) against the bank at the Federal High Court, Awka, Anambra State, claiming that its account with the bank had been debited for excess charges totaling N559,374,072.09. He obtained a judgment in excess of N4.7billion against the bank from a judge said to be his ally.
This was despite breaching the amicable agreement between the company and the bank for a full and final settlement of N1,095,107,822.95, which saw the bank forgo the sum of N559,374,072.09,  which accrued on its account during the period which he abandoned it.
To stall the criminal proceedings against him and his company, Mr. Chukwuma  instituted suits at the Federal High Court, Abuja, as well as the Federal High Court, Awka in January 2014 against the Inspector- General of Police, Nigeria Police Force and investigating officer(s), seeking declaratory and injunctive reliefs, including orders restraining the Police from commencing criminal proceedings against him and his company.
To thwart the bank’s recovery bid as well as distract it from focusing on the criminal action and civil actions filed for recovery of the debt, Mr. Chukwuma and his company, revealed sources, have continued to institute lawsuits before various courts, claiming frivolous and outrageous sums against the bank.
Giving reasons for Mr. Chukwuma's arrest, the EFCC, in a statement signed by Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, its spokesman,  Mr. Chukwuma refused to respond to invitations by the commission after initially being granted administrative bail by the commission, while his surety could also not be found. He was also said to have resisted arrest.
“Unfortunately, the industrialist resisted arrest and stirred controversy by bringing six truck-loads of thugs to block the entrance to his Plot W1, Industrial Layout, Abakaliki Road, Emeni, Enugu, home.
“This was after he initially misled the Police Command by informing them that his home had been invaded by armed robbers and kidnappers despite the fact that operatives of the commission duly identified themselves to policemen guarding his home," said the EFCC.
His thugs added the commission, assaulted its operatives, forcing the EFCC to call its Enugu office for reinforcement.
“In all of this, the commission’s operatives acted with decorum and civility. No one was manhandled or assaulted by the EFCC team and not a single shot was fired, despite the provocation.
“Chief Chukwuma and his brother, Charles Chukwuma (who is still at large), are being investigated by the Insurance and Capital Market Fraud Section of the Commission’s office in Lagos over matters bordering on N1, 478, 366, 859.66 fraud and forgery.
"The industrialist, among other infractions, allegedly used forged documents to secure tax waivers,” said the commission.
GT Bank, on Thursday, released a guarded statement, saying it would not want to speak about some of the allegations because they are already before the courts.  It, however, maintained that it would take necessary legal steps when its rights are infringed upon.
What the bank did not say, explained sources,  was that in responding to Innoson’s motion for a stay of criminal proceedings at the Court of Appeal, Justice J.S Ikyegh, on September 17, dismissed the motion as unmeritorious and ordered that proceeding in the criminal case against Innoson should proceed. A Copy of the Bill of Lading in possession of GT Bank that Mr. Innocent Chukwuma allegedly forged
On  October 12, the Police filed an application (No. FHC/L/565C/2015) for the issuance of bench warrant against Mr. Chukwuma, Charles Chukwuma and Annajekwu Sunny for fraudulent clearance of goods, forgery, conversion, stealing and conspiracy presently pending before Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The current hoopla quickly became political as Mr. Chukwuma mobilized lawmakers in the Senate who in turn began pushing an ethnic narrative over his arrest and detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Sources told Saharareporters that Mr. Chukwuma had become a law unto himself, using political connections to circumvent official scrutiny. They said during ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s era, Mr. Chukwuma was untouchable. During one of his court cases in Lagos, A federal judge who appears to be at his mercy of Mr. Chukwuma’s lawyers Justice Saliu Saidu of the Federal High Court in Lagos had to warn him that he would not be intimidated.
After his arrest by the EFCC, the forces against the anti-corruption Czar, Ibrahim Magu at the Nigerian Senate came out of the woodworks, even with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki making a ridiculous assertion with a rhetoric question on the floor of the Senate wondering if the FBI would intervene in a dispute between Ford Motors and an American bank.
The worsen the case of official collusion with Mr. Chukwuma, the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami claimed he had not been briefed about Mr. Chukwuma legal issues, but a cursory check shows that the police is prosecuting Chukwuma through the office of the AGF.
Yesterday, a lawsuit filed by lawyers before Justice Rabiu-Shagari of the Federal High Court in Lagos by Mr. Chukwuma's lawyers challenging his detention through a fundamental rights enforcement lawsuit was curiously withdrawn by his lawyers, a sign that he had achieved his objectives using his political connections to bully his bank and browbeat the courts and law enforcement agencies investigating the case of forgery against him. Why We Shot Suspected Kidnappers In Their Genitals — Nigerian Police

The police have acknowledged the authenticity of an internet video that shows suspected kidnappers writhing at the back of a police van and struggling to breathe after being shot in their private parts by officers.
The police said the suspects were the first to fire at officers attached to the Intelligence Response Team when they attempted to free an abducted victim in Abia State last week.
“In the course of the shootout, some of the kidnappers sustained injuries and were overpowered,” Abia police spokesperson, Geoffrey Ogbonna, told PREMIUM TIMES in response to an enquiry about the video which was obtained by Sahara Reporters.
Mr. Ogbonna, a deputy superintendent of police, put the number of the suspects at ‘over seven’ and vaguely identified the victim as a 76-year-old man with a history of hypertension.
The victim was rescued but later died at the hospital, having allegedly been tortured by the kidnappers in their den, Mr. Ogbonna said.
The officers recovered AK-47 guns, ammunition, and three vehicles from the suspects.
See also VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED: Nigeria Police SARS Blow Up Balls Of Kidnappers In Abia State VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED: Nigeria Police SARS Blow Up Balls Of Kidnappers In Abia State The video is believed to have been shot on December 11 or 12. Sahara Reporters published it Thursday night to an outraged audience.
Some officers surrounded a truck marked as belonging to the police in Abia State and in which the suspected had been crammed.
“You wan turn millionaire overnight, bah?” an officer asked rhetorically in Nigerian Pidgin. “You want to get rich quick.”
“This one wants to die,” another voice said in an apparent interjection. “Na death e dey wait for like this; e dey struggle the thing.”
The Nigerian police have for years faced persistent allegations of human rights abuses, and the new video could strengthen the poor public perception of the force.
The Human Rights Watch found in 2007 that Nigeria police officers killed more than 10,000 citizens within seven years, a figure it said was conservative.
Mr. Ogbonna evaded PREMIUM TIMES’ questions about why the officers shot the suspects in the testicles after overpowering them as reported by Sahara Reporters.
He also could not defend the snide remarks the officers uttered to the wounded suspects.
He also did not say how many of the suspects died —if at all— and whether those seriously wounded where receiving medical care.
The footage surfaces amidst growing anger against the police which stemmed from widespread allegations rights abuses, extra-judicial killings and robbery attacks against citizens by officers.
Although most of the claims are directed against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, which is a separate unit from the Intelligence Response Team that carried out the latest operation, rights activists see the gruesome shooting as common amongst all police officers.
“This is a clear case of torture and extra-judicial execution,” said Okechukwu Nwanguma of the Network on Police Reform in Nigeria, NOPRIN.
Mr. Nwanguma decried the unimaginable level of atrocities being allegedly perpetrated by police officers every day in Nigeria, considering that most of the gruesome abuses and execution hardly make it to the public domain.
“The duty of the police is to arrest, investigate and produce accused persons to court for fair trial,” Mr. Nwanguma said. “Executing crime suspects extra-judicially is both unlawful and criminal.”
He called on the police leadership and the Nigerian government to pursue a lasting solution to the horrific activities of officers before it is too late.
“The case underscores the need for the police hierarchy to demonstrate that they are serious about their promise to reform the institution,” said Mr. Nwanguma, whose organization has tracked numerous cases of abuses by the police for many years.
“Part of this reform would be to bring officers responsible for this and similar egregious violations to a public trial in order to send out a clear message that the police as an institution does not tolerate human rights atrocities,” he added.

Madman caught with N100 million cheque, ATM cards, phone, condoms in Ilorin

A middle-aged man who pretended to be mentally ill has been apprehended in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Our correspondent learnt that the man, whose name could not be ascertained, as of the time of filing this report, was apprehended near the state Ministry of Environment and Forestry along the Ahmadu Bello Way in Ilorin.

Sources said when he was searched, a cheque of N100m, pictures he allegedly took with top politicians in Nigeria, four automated teller machine cards, male and female condoms, Valium injections and Infinix Hot 5 phone were found on him.
The sources said the man, who would have been lynched by a mob, was rescued by another man dressed in a native attire.

An eye-witness who pleaded anonymity, said she got there when people caught the fake madman. She said she witnessed how the man was searched.
According to her, she ran away when it seemed the mob might lynch the suspect.
The picture of the man and a brief description of what transpired when he was apprehended quickly spread through the social media.
But the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, said he could not confirm the discovery of the fake madman, adding that all he saw was a picture of the purported man circulating on the social media.

I regret spending N9.6m to look like David Beckham — Die hard fan reveals

A David Beckham fan, Jack Johnson, who spent £20,000 (N9.6m) on surgery to look like his idol, said his obsession nearly killed him.

According to Mirror UK, after spending several years trying to look like the football legend, Johnson said his unsuccessful bid nearly drove him to commit suicide.
Report said Johnson is now reversing his medical work and speaking out to warn others not to follow in his path.
“I tried to take my own life because trying to look like Beckham is a full-time job and is not easy,” he said.

“Trying to look like Beckham nearly killed me and I don’t want others to make the same mistake.”

In his bid to look like Beckham, Johnson, from Nottingham, England, had tan injections every month, as well as lip, chin and cheek fillers, botox injected into his forehead, and procedures for dental veneers.
The 21-year-old paid for the surgery using his Disability Living Allowance, by taking out loans and borrowing money from his brother.
He is now struggling to pay debts of £14,000 (N6.7m) and insists he has learnt his lesson, while he has stopped having all forms of surgery.
Johnson’s story went viral last year and he appeared in news outlets across 10 countries when details of his Beckham obsession emerged.

As he became well recognised, clinics gave him liposuction, botox and lip fillers for free, he said.
“I’m not speaking out because I want notoriety or fame anymore — I’m genuinely doing this because I’ve come out the other side of it,” he said.
“When I was on This Morning Holly or when Phil asked me if I was happy, I told them I was, but really I wasn’t — I was in the worst place ever on the inside.”
Johnson tried to kill himself four months ago by taking an overdose of tablets, but he was found by a friend and taken to a hospital.

He had sessions with a psychiatrist and he learnt he was suffering from body dysmorphia — a mental condition where a person spends a lot of time worrying about flaws in their appearance.
“I obviously don’t blame David Beckham, it’s not his fault,” said Johnson. “I was trying desperately to look like him and it nearly cost me my life.
“I feel like I’m in the best place ever now — and I really don’t want anybody to go through what I have.
“Nobody should ever aspire to look like celebrities to that extent, and I’m an example of that. You need to just be yourself.”
